Huge Drugstore Haul! [ Video ]

Saturday, May 18, 2013
Happy Weekend Friends! Scott and I kinda had a fun day out of shopping. We didn't buy anything that wasn't on sale...clothes wise and I also did some drugstore shopping. This is a pretty big haul... but a few items I want to give away to family... and a I am also having a giveaway on here too! All the details are in the video below. Today I took advantage of a big sale going at CVS. There are lots of makeup deals but the ones I used were..
Spend $10 on Physicians Formula and get $7 in Extrabucks.

Spend $15 on any Revlon products and get $7 in Extrabucks.

Buy 1 get one 50% off on NYC

Buy 1 get one 50% off Milani

So what I did was... check out first with the Physicians Formula and Revlon products.I actually had $8 dollars in Extracare bucks that I used towards the total. Then at the bottom of my receipt was the $14 in extra care bucks from this weeks sales. Then I had her ring up the other products... and used the $14 dollars I just got...which made me very happy! And there are tons of other sales going on at CVS right now. You should go check it out for yourself.. grab a paper when you walk in and shop the deals!

Also there were too many products to photograph and put in 1 blog post. So I will divide them up and do swatches and photos really soon!

Hope you enjoy the video!

Let me know what products out of this haul interest you and if you have tried any!

Directions

Using the defining brush, apply brow powder following the natural shape of your brow for a flawlessly blended fill. With the grooming brush, apply brow wax to seal brow color and hold hairs in place. Highlighter can be applied under the brow bone with fingertip to lift and open the appearance of the eye.

Here it is..

This little kit

slides up.

As you can see the Wax is on the left, the highlighter is in the middle and the brow powder is on the right.

After using this product it now looks like..

This.. as you can see the wax is a mess.. but that's pretty normal..

My Thoughts

I think this is ok.. I mean, there are a ton of other brow kits that work just as well as this one. I basically like to mix the brow powder and wax together because most of the time if you put the powder on your eye brows first and then the wax, it looks splotchy. I am still in love with the Elf Studio Brow Kit. If you want to see the post you can click right HERE. In that kit the wax is dark brown and I think its better than a white wax.

Another thing, I think adding wax first then adding the brow powder works better than applying the powder first. I do go over the wax with powder even if I mix it in.

I think this product is OK.. Not great.. Not bad but ok!

Have you tried it?

Send me your thoughts!

Here is the powder itself.

It has a very silky feel

and blends in pretty well.

My Thoughts..

As I have said in many Nuance reviews, a lot of the products are hit or miss. With this product I actually like it. It gives a very light sheer air brushed look on my skin. Its very easy to apply.. just swirl your brush in it, tap off the excess and apply. Blends very easy and I think it gives a good little highlight to my face.

# 170 Passion Pink

# 175 Paprika

The first color I picked out was

# 135 Coral

and

# 140 Shimmering Nude

Here are the swatches

Shimmering Nude is on the left and Coral is on the right.

As you can see both are very creamy and soft looking.

Again, Shimmering Nude on Left and Coral is on the right.

My Thoughts..

Call me crazy but looking at the tube in the store, I really thought the bottom was a matching gloss. I tried twisting and turning it but to no avail! Its a neat little tube but I still wish it had gloss in the bottom!

I am surprised at these lipsticks. I personally think items from this line are hit and miss. With these lipsticks I found them very creamy and moisturizing. I am also happy to say the color pay off was pretty good and the staying power was also pretty good.

The Shimmering Nude is very subtle with light frosty look. I actually like it a lot. I am a huge fan of nudes and this one does not disappoint. My little grand daughter got a hold of my tube and its a total mess now, so I just use a brush with it now and it works fine!

The coral is a medium coral pinkish tone. I think it would suit almost anyone. And is also another one of my favorites.

These two are the only colors I have tried. I think they go on easy, look good and last!!!

So thumbs up for these lip sticks! I do plan on getting the other shades!

Have you guys tried any of these yet!?  Let me hear it.. email me!!

REVIEW & SWATCHES - Salma Hayek Nuance Eye Quad - Neutral and Smokey

Tuesday, November 15, 2011
Here I am, back to reviewing some of the items from the Nuance Line. I have been working hard on getting these pumped out. The emails that have been coming in, show me that so many of you are interested in this line. As with all make up lines, there are some good products and some not so good products. I should say, I purchased all these items from this line and this is simply just MY opinion. To see the other reviews, the links will be listed at the bottom of this post.

This evening, I am going to talk to you about 2 different shadow quads.

As you can see the shape of these..

take on the same tear drop shape as many of the products from this line. Kinda neat..

The first one I am going to talk about is the

Salma Hayek Nuance Beautiful Blends Eye Quad # 080 - Neutral

$ 8.99 each, Only Sold at CVS

Here is the product information

Neutral Eye Quad Color Key: 1. toasted almond; 2. shimmering bronze; 3. champagne gold; 4. frosted blush. Beautiful blends. Create the perfect natural look with neutral colors that shade, highlight and define. Combine the four complementary shades to highlight, contour and define for a complete look, or use separately to create multiple looks. Fine-milled pigments leave a light, velvety finish that spreads and blends easily. Rice lipids & vitamin E condition, nourish and protect lids.

Ingredients

Dimethicone, Magnesium Stearate, Talc, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Lipids, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tin Oxide, May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Carmine, Chromium Oxide Greens, FD&C Red 40 Al Lake, FD&C Yellow 5 Lake, Ferric Ferrocyanide.

Directions for use

Get the Look: Sweep Champagne Gold (3) onto your lid. Blend Shimmering Bronze (2) into your crease. Apply Frosted Blush (4) as a highlight to both browbone and inner corner of your eye. Blend Toasted Almond (1) into the outer corner and along lower lash line.

Here it is..

As you can see it opens right up to all the colors. There are 4 colors in this quad. I mean its pretty easy to tell on your own but there is not description of colors other than on the box.

It also comes with a sponge applicator that sits comfortably right in the middle of the quad.

However, this little applicator is pointless. I can't see where ANYONE would get a great look with this.

Lets go over the swatches..

From left to right

Frosted Blush

Champagne Gold

Shimmering Bronze

Toasted Almond

On to the second quad..

This is the

Salma Hayek Nuance Beautiful Blends Eye Quad  # 075 Smokey

$ 8.99, sold only at CVS

Here is the product information:

Smokey Eye Quad Color Key: 1. cool charcoal; 2. warm smoke; 3. silver mist; 4. pearl teal. Beautiful blends. Create alluring, smokey eyes with coordinating colors that shade, highlight and define. Combine the four complementary shades to highlight, contour and define for a complete look, or use separately to create multiple looks. Fine-milled pigments leave a light, velvety finish that spreads and blends easily. Rice lipids & vitamin E condition, nourish and protect lids.

Ingredients

Dimethicone, Magnesium Stearate, Talc, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Lipids, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tin Oxide, May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Carmine, Chromium Oxide Greens, FD&C Red 40 Al Lake, FD&C Yellow 5 Lake, Ferric Ferrocyanide.

Directions

Get the Look: Sweep Pearl Teal (4) onto your lid. Blend Warm Smoke (2) into your crease. Apply Silver Mist (3) as a highlight to both browbone and inner corner of your eye. Blend Cool Charcoal (1) into the outer corner and along lower lash line.

As you can see this opens up just as the one above and there is no other listing of the shades besides what is on the box.

Here are the swatches

Left to Right

Silver Mist

Cool Charcoal

Warm Smoke

Pearl Teal

Now on to MY thoughts..

I am rather impressed with these shadows. I think for a drugstore products these are pretty good. All these colors are pretty much shimmer shadows. I think they are a little hard, but I found using a brush worked just fine opposed to that little sponge applicator that comes with these. Also I found the color pretty buildable and when used with a primer or cream shadow, the color payoff was pretty good. BTW. with the swatches for both quads above, I used no primer.  I didn't have a lot of fall out with these either. They blended fine with the right brushes and I liked them. I don't think one quad is better than the other. I think if you like neutrals you will like the first and if you like bolder colors, the second one is for you. I clearly own both and use them maybe once a week.

What I am not crazy about is the packaging. I think this tear drop design is hard to store and hard to travel with. This design did catch my eye and was one of the main reasons I purchased it but now after trying them out, I would have rathered a more simple package for these.

Over all, I am happy with this purchase and I would recommend these quads to people.

Let me know your thoughts if you have tried them!

Review - Salma Hayek NUANCE FRONT & CENTER CONCEALER AND BRIGHTENER

Monday, November 14, 2011
Hello!!

Back to more Salma Hayek Nuance Reviews. As I already said, I have a ton of reviews to do on this line. I think I might have 4 or 5 left.

[ If you want to see my other reviews, links will are at the bottom of this post ]

Today I am going to talk about the

NUANCE FRONT AND CENTER CONCEALER & BRIGHTENER

#220 - Light - $ 10.99 only sold at CVS

First off here is what the product claims

Dual-ended, creamy, high-coverage concealer and skin brightener visibly diminish imperfections and help enhance skin tone.

This comes in 4 shades

Light, Light/Medium, Medium, and Deep.

Ingredients

ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, PETROLATUM, COPERNICIA CERIFERA (CARNAUBA) WAX, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CERESIN, BEESWAX (CERA ALBA), KAOLIN, SILICA, SQUALANE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, TOCOPHEROL, TETRAHEXYLDECYL ASCORBATE, SODIUM HYALURONATE, LYSINE, MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, ZINC CHLORIDE, PHENOXYETHANOL, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, HEXYLENE GLYCOL. MAY CONTAIN (+/-): MICA, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), ULTRAMARINES (CI 77007), CHROMIUM OXIDE GREENS (CI 77288), CHROMIUM HYDROXIDE GREEN (CI 77289)

Ok, on to my thoughts on this.

As you can see this is a dual ended product.

On one end

you have the concealer and on the other

there is the brightener.

As you can see with the brightener it applies with

brush..

Here are swatches...

The concealer is to the left and the highlighter is to the right

As you can see with this picture the brightener ( at top ) is lighter in color and consistency.

My thoughts

This was actually one of those items I didn't think I would really like. But after using it for a few weeks, I am shocked that I like this product. the texture is creamy but not greasy and it blends really well. The coverage is good, not great but good.

I use it in conjunction with the matte highlighter and it makes my under eye circles and bags disappear, the trick is to apply the concealer all over your under eye area , blend and then apply the highlighter precisely with the brush to the inner eye area. Then blend and set with powder. I recommend this product to most people. I don't have big issues with dark circles so I don't require a lot of concealer under my eyes. This actually works great on me but if you do have issues with dark circles you might want to find one that has more coverage. I also traveled with this on a couple trips husby and I took and I liked the packaging because it fit into my make up bag without taking up much room. I still love my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer too, which is packaged pretty much the same but the concealer is a liquid concealer with a doe foot applicator. [ You can see the review HERE, mind you.. it was one of my first reviews and isn't so good! But check it out anyway if you are interested! ]

Anyway, back to this product.. I think its pretty good. I know I have gave thumbs down to a lot of the products from this line but I like this one! You might want to give it a chance!!

Have any of you guys tried it yet? Let me know your thoughts if you have!!

REVIEW - Salma Hayek NUANCE FLAWLESS COVERAGE MINERAL FOUNDATION

Sunday, November 13, 2011
Hello friends!

I hope you all are having a beautiful Sunday evening. I am working on dinner and working on this post for you guys, so yea.. keeping busy!

I have been reviewing some of the products from the Salma Hayek Nuance Collection. This specific collection is ONLY SOLD AT CVS.

* You can check out the other reviews from this line from the links at the bottom of this post. *

I still have A LOT of other reviews coming but tonight I am going to be discussing the

Flawless Coverage MINERAL FOUNDATION

This one is in # 225  Light/Medium

Its 0.28 ounces $ 13.99

Here is what the product claims:

Skin Adapting Technology balances tone, allowing your skin's natural pigments to show through. Mineral Clays firm and revitalize, giving skin a healthy glow. Rice powder absorbs oil to prevent shine. Vitamins C & E condition and protect skin.

Directions to use

Apply with brush for a soft application or a sponge for an opaque finish. Blend evenly with gentle strokes.

Ingredients

Talc, Zinc Stearate, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol Aluminum Dimyristate, Illite, Alumina, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Hull Powder, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Chlorphenesin, Potassium Sorbate, Tetrasodium EDTA. May Contain (+/-): Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289).

I wasn't really wanting to get this because I do not wear mineral foundations, but since I got the tinted moisturizer, I figured I would try it.

Well.. I am not going to sugar coat this in any way. I felt this product was a complete waste of money to buy. Again its the tear shaped packaging which is pretty bulky. I don't tend to read a lot of reviews before buying a product because I don't want anything persuading me one way or another. Well, this time I should have read some!

This coverage was sheer to none. I don't see the point in it at all. I even tried using it as a setting powder and did not like it much more than on its own. It just did not apply good, did not blend well and was just basically non existent.

There are tons of other drug store mineral make up lines that are much much better and the same goes for finishing powders.

If I were you, I would leave this one sitting on the shelf. Its just not worth the steep price for a drug store product.

Thumbs down.

Salma Hayek - NUANCE - CHEEK TRIO REVIEW!!!

Saturday, November 12, 2011
As most of you guys know this week I have been reviewing the Nuance Products ( links to those post at the bottom of this post ) and tonight I am going to talk about the

Nuance Cheek Trio in # 290 - Pink
$12.99 only sold at CVS

Ingredients

MICA, TALC, DIMETHICONE, CALCIUM CARBONATE, KAOLIN, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, 2-ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, NYLON-6, METHICONE, DIMETHICONOL, 2-PHENOXYETHANOL, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, SILICA, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, TIN OXIDE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, RICINUS COMMUNIS SEED OIL, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, XANTHAN GUM, SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE MAY CONTAIN (+/-): MICA (CI 77019), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDE RED (CI 77491), IRON OXIDE YELLOW (CI 77492), IRON OXIDE BLACK (CI 77499), FD&C RED NO. 40 (CI 16035:1), FD&C YELLOW NO.5 LAKE (CI 19140:1), CARMINE (CI 75470), ULTRAMARINES (CI 77007)

These are available in 4 different shades.

Pink, Spice, Apricot, Mauve

As you can see there is a bronzer, blush and highlight. It comes in this weird tear drop design that is actually kinda bulky.

Here is the directions for this trio..

Using a brush, apply the marbled shade to the tops of the cheekbones to highlight. Add the blush shade to the apples of the cheeks for a natural flush of color. Apply the deepest shade in the hollows of the cheek to contour. Blend all three shades for endless customized looks.

Ok.. I don't know about you guys but I don't like mixing all three of these products at once, and that's basically how it comes out when you use a normal size blush brush. I do think it felt good but I just didn't like the look. The 2nd time I tried it, I used smaller brushes, and it worked better. I have some small Bare Mineral brushes and it still was not the easiest to do.

Here are the swatches.

Left to Right

Bush, Bronzer, and highlighter.

I want to point out the specks of purple in the highlighter. I think its pretty! Normally you don't see purple in a highlighter. I don't really mind the highlighter shade, but the bronzer doesn't really look good on me and I think the blush color is just ok.

I think these products would have been so much better if they were not in a cheek trio. I am just not too happy with this so for $12.99 I would leave this on the shelf. Its just not that flattering when the colors are all mixed together.

Have any of you guys tried this?? Email me and let me know how it worked for you. I am really curious what you think of this product!!

Here are the other reviews I have done so far on this line. I have still have a lot more reviews from this line coming up so stay tuned!
