Change is Good ♥

Hello everyone. I hope your having a wonderful day. Around here it's been raining a lot and I have been inside at the desk ( ha! I bet you can already tell that !) working online and changing things up. Every once in a while I get a bug up my butt to change things up.  I have been tired of the bright bulky template I once had. It was just time for a change. I also kinda feel like I am in a blogging slump of sorts but really it's just been real life getting in the way of me sitting here at the computer most days. And maybe with this new design, it will pep me up to get on here a little more. I am always posting my new videos but there is so much more that I want to write about. I need more time! A lot of times a blog posts take me an entire day to write due to all of the interruptions and distractions that seem to happen when I start typing. :) 

I hope you are enjoying the new design. I don't understand the entire rebranding thing that so many people do. For me, I kept the address of this blog " neutral " and can basically change the design and even blog name without having to move to a new domain. I installed the template and made all the changes myself. Besides a few little bugs, I think everything is running great! Let me know if you have any issues or problems. I thought it looked sleek and fresh and I really love it. By next week I hope to be back on a better blog/youtube schedule. It's just been crazy around here with it being the first back to school week for us. I really need to go shopping and that might end up happening tonight. I feel behind on everything but I promise I am working hard to change it.

Changes...

We are currently in a big change around here... I know the pictures are extra large and things don't look exactly right but hang in there...we will have everything back to normal and better than ever asap!

Blogging is Hard......* Kinda

I recently found this fun July linkup from Juliette that I thought I would join in again! 

So the last prompt for Blog Everyday in July is "Blogging is Hard".

So I have a few thoughts on this. First blogging is not like brain surgery. Its something you choose do to either for enjoyment or some times as a job. For me, it started out as enjoyment and has turned into a little monthly side money but its not like I break a sweat blogging. However, I do not work outside the house, I consider myself pretty tech savvy, and writing comes natural for me. I have kept a journal since I was old enough to write. I have been blogging since January 2006. YIKES! Makes me feel old! I have the first few years private because they were disaster blog posts but its been a long hobby for me.  But I really really enjoy it. I moved on into making videos a few years ago and have also been enjoying that a lot too. Blogging becomes hard for me when life becomes hard. I can't really get on here and fake it. Firstly, I want things on this blog to be true to time and true in life. Second, I am just too much of an emotional person to try to fake it until I make it. I have learned over the years of blogging that is probably not a good thing to do when you are upset. When those times roll around, I simply turn off the computer and wait until I feel better. Otherwise it will be hard to say anything nice and spread positive energy.

The other way it is " hard " is all the steps that go into a good blog post and or video. Think about it....you need to write, edit photos/videos, proof read, and publish. But it doesn't end there. I pay for a services that publishes my blog post on facebook/twitter but I always always go to my facebook accounts and share the post with more pictures. Then don't forget about making a good pin-able image for pinterest. Yep.. you know you should be doing it. Then if you join up in link ups you have to add your links to their sites for optional views. If you want your blog to be successful, you have to invest time and energy not only in the content but blog design and maintenance, advertise as much as possible, host giveaways for your wonderful.. and I mean wonderful subscribers who come back over and over to view your blog. Its not that its really hard for me, but it is totally time consuming. Another part of blogging that is hard is I basically work from home with this blog and my youtube videos. I make $300-500 a month right now and I am totally happy with that. But being its a home based job, it seems like I am always always working. The kids don't really think of it as a job, instead they see mommy sitting at the computer all day long. So balancing my time is not easy. I am always thinking about a blog post/video and its hard to turn off. That's one of the reasons planners and schedules work so well for me. I also think the reason I don't really consider it hard is because I love it so much so it does't feel like a job. I have 8 years of content right here....and if I didn't love it... I would have never ever kept up with it this long. I love documenting our lives and I love the relationships I have made over the years from this blog and my youtube channels. So for me... its not as much as it being hard but being very time consuming.

Changes, Happenings & Updates

- Sorry if this shows up in your timeline twice...I was thought I hit preview but hit publish yesterday when I started it! - 

Hello friends. I thought today I would try to get things a little back to normal around here. Its been a few days since I have done anything online. I just took a little time off to get my head together so I thought I would share some thoughts with you all. 

* I stopped vlogging for the most part. There are a couple of reasons. Honestly, it just wasn't that fun anymore. I would video on and off though out the day and then stay up late trying to get it edited, saved and uploaded. Then I would have a bunch mean comments about it causing me to get sad and or depressed... which I know came out on Scott and Jackson. So I am done. BUT...there is a bright side. :) I am going to vlog here and there.. Maybe a shopping vlog, or travel vlog...along with other videos that I will be putting up on that channel but the really personal stuff... is gone. I will not be vlogging daily but I will still be making content to put on that channel. It just started feeling like a danger zone and most of the time I totally run from situations like that. I did it for 6 months straight. Its time for a break. I will start videos on that channel Sunday with a video explaining changes are to come and what videos to expect.

Hello friends. I hope you are getting up and getting a good start to your day. I got up and took Jackson to school today. Normally husby does it but last night he asked if I could..how could I say no!? So up out of the bed this morning I came. Not saying I am really enjoying being up this early but I am going to take advantage of it and get a lot done. I only got about half of my weekly cleaning done so I am going to catch it up this morning and then do some filming. I am doing good because I already have videos filmed for next week! I like staying ahead which isn't always easy but I am thankful for being caught up for now because it sure makes life a lot easier.

Here's today's Game Plan:

• Finish Weekly Cleaning
• Spend 30 minutes in the office sorting papers and organizing. 
• Brush out all kitty cats
• Clean doors and mirrors
• Film and Edit a few videos
• Work in current home zone ( kitchen ) for a hour or so
• Get items ready for the post office
• Hang up a lot of Scott's button downs. 
• Start Friday Letters - look for Jordans first picture to add. 
• Answer YT and blog comments
• Make meatloaf for dinner a little earlier than normal because there is a lot of tv tonight. 
• Take early shower
• Enjoy American Idol, Greys Anatomy, and Scandle
• Try to get to bed by 1230 am

Last night before I went to bed, I saw on CNN where think they found wreckage from the missing Malaysian Missing Plane. I knew that plane was in the ocean. I can't explain it but I truly could feel inside that the plan had a catastrophic failure either due to a fire or something and ended up in the ocean. Its really really sad and I think we should all take a minute and say a prayer. Even though its heartbreaking to know that it is actually in the ocean but maybe it can be a little closure to the families.

Happy Tuesday friends! I hope you all are having a great day so far. Around here, the sun is shining bright and I am enjoying a beautiful spring day. I know some of you guys are still dealing with colder weather but for us here in South Carolina, its finally warming up! Just the sun shining through not only makes me happy but makes all the kitty cats around here happy too! I feel so much better with sunshine. :) I don't know if it works the same way for hubby because on bright warm sunny days, he usually has to work much harder. Customers come out on sunny days! Anyway, its so pretty here. I have no idea what I am going to do today. I have a couple errands to run and a little shopping to do today but that's about it. I thought with such a pretty day, I would clean out the garage some but that might have to wait until another day. I want Scott to bring home a big ass truck that I can toss all the stuff in before heading to the dump. I just want to throw all that shit away. I should already be out the door today but I am moving a bit slow right now.
Anyway, I have some bloggy news for you....I have been working hard to update my sponsor page and come March you will be able to purchase ad space if you'd like again. I kinda took a break from doing ads for a good 4 months but its time to start sharing your wonderful blogs again! If you are interested, you can head here and see all the details. Catching up!

Hello friends! I thought I would take a few minutes on this beautiful autumn night to say hi and check in. I use to blog every night and kinda give a highlight of what my day consisted of but with me vloging everyday, I just don't see the point. But I do miss it a little bit! Fall has really sat in around here. Right now I have the door cracked and there is a pretty cool breeze flowing in.  We really need to start getting firewood because the weather is changing fast. I am rather enjoying it. It just feels - fresh & new - to me. I am ready for harvest homecoming, the state fair, pumpkin picking, cozy dinners, and holiday planning. In fact, Scott told me tonight that he is good to go with going to Florida for Christmas and I need to figure out the dates. So right now it looks like we are going south for the Christmas. I think for Thanksgiving we will stay right here. I am hoping I can talk the big kids into coming but they have so family members houses to go to over the holidays, I am sure we are low on the list! But I am loving every minute of the fall. I am sure it won't be long before I am bitching about how cold winter is but I am totally soaking in all fall has to offer. I even think tomorrow I am going to start digging out some of our fall decorations...it's on the to do list!

Goodbye Passionfruit - Hello Adproval

Hello friends! I have a pretty important post for you guys today.. in terms of ad space on my blog and possibly add space on your blog! Passionfruit recently announced a pay subscription service for $ 9 month starting September 1st. So that means you will have to pay them to maintain your ads, sell ads, or even swap ads. Honestly, it pisses me off that for a majority of smaller blogs who are doing mainly free swaps will have to pay $9 month. Yea.. I am not doing it.

Bloggy Notes!

Hello friends! I hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday!  I want to take a few minutes to talk to you about some bloggy things! First off... I don't have all the addresses for the New Laundry System Giveaway. There were a total of 22 winners and so far.. I have got about 1/2 of the addresses. So here is what I am going to be doing. If I don't have your address by this Saturday  [ April 13th ] then I am going to sadly have to disqualify you. This was a huge giveaway and its been hard trying to figure out where to send all the prizes. I doubt that I will ever do a giveaway this big again because its been more work that I expected! Sorry.. but tracking down your addresses has become wayyyy to hard! All the winners are listed here so be sure to check it out and if you are        one of the lucky winners shoot me an email at mrskishajaggers@gmail.com so I can send you your prizes!

Now on to some other notes.. So have you heard that Google Reader is shutting down?? Let me explain a little more.. Google reader and GFC are not the same.. but there are some rumors that blogger will be doing away with BOTH in the very soon future. I don't really use google reader to follow blogs but I know many of you do. You can check out a great article right here that explains it a little better. Also feedburner is suppose to be going away too.  Now for me that's not really a problem being I switched to Feedblitz a while ago to deliver daily emails to subscribers. So while I have been blogging for a long while... I didn't even have GFC up for 3 years.. and for me, I have MOST of my subscribers through email because that is what I suggested for years.  Now I am starting to think that its not going to matter anyway. Google who owns blogger is wanting us ALL to navigate to Google +.  And lets face it.. Google + has some great things about it too.. and I will go into that in a later post. 

But what I am hoping is if you follow with GFC, maybe add another way of following this blog too. Just in case.. 

So here are ways to follow The Glamorous Life of a French Housewife:

Daily Email and RSS Feed : At the top of the blog there is the section right above the first blog post where you can add your email address and get our daily email. I don't blow up your inboxes every day.. Its just 1 email with all the daily posts in it. I do send out some emails here and there but normally its one email per day. ( Also to other bloggers.. I pay Feedblitz to send out the daily emails. It also automatically updates facebook and twitter for a very small fee and I am SUPER happy with them. Feedburner is who delivers most of bloggers feed via email.. and that service is sure to disappear soon and I have no idea what they will offer instead if anything. so think about that! ) 

Facebook  All my blog post show up on my facebook page a couple of seconds after they go live on the blog. For you guys who are friends with me on my Personal Facebook Page.....the blog posts go live immediately after they are posted on here. Its automatic. And what I love is when I schedule a post to go live at a particular time..it also updates my social media sites...which is extremely helpful. 

Twitter  If you follow me on Twitter then you will be able to see each blog post as they go live on the blog. I don't use twitter as much as I should but I am working on it!

Instagram - Now I don't put every blog post up on instagram. I love it.. and I do take a lot of pictures and its a great way to keep up with ME but not so good for finding new blog posts. But maybe I will change it and maybe do 1 picture a day with updated blog posts...not sure yet. 

Youtube - I love youtube and making videos because its a great community to belong to but I don't put my blog posts up on there either! But subscribe because I make videos OFTEN!

Pinterest - I love pinterest.. isn't there some great ideas on there!? I don't put each blog post up on there but I do have a board for the blog and I try to update it once a week with my favorite posts!

Bloglovin - If you are a follower of bloglovin then all my posts will appear the second they go live on the blog. And let me say.. I am not a huge bloglovin person. I don't really use it that much now except to publish my blog posts.. BUT.. I am going to really work on this. I do know its a great way to follow the blogs you love and you can break them up into different groups such as cooking blogs, family blogs, pets blogs.. you get the point. So I am going to start moving all my blogs over there in the coming weeks! 

Google +  - This is blogger's prefered way to keep up with everything. To be very honest, I like a lot of the google + features but I am still behind the curve on all it does. Right now.. I have to update each new blog post manually and it sucks. I still have a lot to learn about this site but you can follow me on here too. There is a link at the top and in the right side bar to make it easy for you to follow. 

That actually goes for all the other - follow methods -... they are all at the top and in the right side to make it easy for you all to find! 

Bookmark - You can always just bookmark this blog and come back that way too. 

I don't suggest other bloggers flip out about loosing Google Reader of GFC. Instead start having your followers follow in other ways. I can't imagine the blog list on blogger.com going away.. but the rumor is that it will be gone and Google + will be what they will be pushing for all of us. If you are blogging from a different platform this really doesn't apply to you. I am a blogger girl.. I am a google girl.. and I don't plan on switching my blog to another hosting site because of the upcoming changes. The google search engine has been GREAT for my blog. I get tons of new readers who happen to find me through google. So why would I change that?  I am just going to figure out things in another way if we loose Google Reader and GFC. I hope if you are a GFC follower or if you read this blog in Google Reader, you will other ways to follow so you can keep joining in our our daily lives! I love all you guys and want you to stay around!

Weekend in Review [ Pic Heavy ]

Helloooo! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! The weather broke around here and it finally warmed up. 

Friday was really the start of my weekend! It began with husby getting home... we ran some errands in the evening. He was having a tough time at the redbox trying to figure out which movies he wanted!

It was a bit cool Friday due to the rain so I just stayed in the car and let him figure it out! And he picked a couple of good movies!
