Happy Leap Day!

Happy Leap day everyone!

I wonder how many of you guys know what a leap year or leap day means..

Well, its a year when an extra day is added at the end of the month of February. This happens approximately (but NOT every) four years. This applies to anyone who uses the Gregorian calendar - which is pretty much the whole world.

We have a leap year because a standard year is not actually exactly 365 days long - it's 365.2422 days long, so slightly longer than we count in a standard year calendar.

That long number - 365.2422 - is the number of days it takes the planet Earth, on average, to make a full rotation around the sun.

So, an extra day is added onto our shortest month, about once every four years, in order to keep the calendar months in line with their assigned seasons. If we didn't add the day to compensate, the months would get so out of step with the seasons that eventually we'd be celebrating Christmas in the middle of summer.The concept of the leap year dates back to Julius Caesar and the ancient Roman Empire, when he commissioned scientists to create the Julian calendar in 46 BC.

Its funny because last night I fell to sleep watching Leap Year.. with Amy Adams.. its based off Leap Year where according to an old Irish legend, or possibly history, St Bridget struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men – and not just the other way around – every 4 years. This is believed to have been introduced to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how Leap Day balances the calendar.

I know it didn't get rave reviews but I think its cute. So if you want a date night movie for tonight in celebration of Leap Year.. rent it because its sweet.

Around here today its..

rainy and foggy. I actually like it a lot. I think the woods look so pretty right now with that fog running through the trees. Late last night.. I came down stairs and got the cushions off my new patio table and put down the umbrella. I know that they say its ok to leave the cushions outside in the weather but since its brand new.. I just couldn't do that. I'm glad I did it too.. because when I got up.. it was raining.

I don't have any big plans today. Since the kids will be here tomorrow night.. I have a lot to do around the house to get ready for them. I doubt I will get it all done today but I plan on starting today. Tomorrow I will have to change all the bedding and and get Scott's stuff moved into my bathroom. He is moving in with me while they are here. Once his daughter leaves to head home, Jerred will still be here but we will move him to the study and move Scott back into his own room. I mean, husby would love nothing more to stay in my room full time but that snoring is hard to deal with.

My closet is a total mess and I hate it so that is my # 1 job today. It just looks ransacked and its time I get it back to the way it should be looking. I am sure I will find other things that need done too while I am up there. I plan on making a meatloaf tonight and I will maybe video it because the cooking videos have been big hits with a lot of you guys. I make a brown sugar meat loaf and its to die for. The guys like it a lot and its easy to make.
