Wednesday Hodgepodge

Happy Wednesday Friends! Time for another Wednesday Hodgepodge!

1. .Share one fun thing you did last week, while the Hodgepodge was on 'spring break'.

Well that's an easy one.. I got to have a lot of fun time with little...

Jackson! It was pretty cold here over Spring Break so we didn't do a ton of things. Summer is when we normally have the most fun but we had a ton of great laughs together over spring break! He makes me smile all the time and I am so proud to be his mom. ♥

2.  April 10th is National Sibling Day...do you have siblings, and if so are you close? Share a favorite story featuring one or all of your siblings. If you don't have siblings, did you ever wish you did?

I grew up with a brother who died at the age of 24. He was driving a 4-wheeler drunk and crashed into a cut down telephone pole that was used as a part of a fence. It was very tramatic for my family and super hard to deal with. But time has passed and I think I have healed from loosing him.

I also have a beautiful sister Laci.. (She's the one on the right.. Thats my mom in the middle and me on the left )

She is in college in Florida and trying to figure out what direction to go in with her life. She is super busy.. and we don't get to see each other as much as I like but its great when we can get together!

3. Is it important to you to 'buy American'? Why or why not? How much of an effort do you make to 'buy American'? If you're not American, insert your own country in the blank.

Gosh.. I hate to say it but no it doesn't really bother me to not buy American. I don't care about all that stuff. I do think we should all support our local mom and pop stores more than the big mass market stores because they make up our communities. But honestly.. it doesn't really cross my mind. Instead I try to buy food and groceries as fresh as possible and everything else I try to shop around and find the best prices possible!

4. Besides The Bible, what book has impacted your spirituality in some way?

All of Joel Osteen's books have not only touched me but also helped me cope with day to day life in a better way. He is compassionate and realistic.. and in a weird kind of way... I trust him.

Joel Osteen Book Covers

His books are amazing and if you haven't read any.. I suggest all 3 of the ones above!

5. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes.  Do you find rainy days calming or depressing?  When were you last caught in a rainstorm? What's blooming in your neck of the woods today?

I love the rain...well if I am not actually running out in it... I find it relaxing and refreshing.

The last time Scott and I got caught in the rain was

last summer when we had all the kids! We were soaked!! And in the picture above we were taking shelter in a tunnel of sorts until the rain slowed down!

6. What's your favorite yellow food?

Pasta is yellow right!?

Hands down... pasta wins every time!

7. April is National Poetry Month...what's a poem that holds special meaning for you, and why is it special?

This has always been one of my favorites..

i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

Spring has sprung around here in North Carolina!! I can't tell you how excited I am to get done with winter and the cold weather. I seriously hate it and the last few days...its been in the 80's!!!!!!!!!! I have been enjoying the windows being open.. sitting outside on the back porch for coffee in the mornings.. playing with the dog.. watching the flowers come up.. its been lovely! Come on summer!

I hope you have a great day!

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of your brother.
It's been near 80 here in NY the past couple of days but we are supposed to be back in the 50s by the weekend. Coffee on the porch sounds lovely :)

  4. I'm trying to catch up on last weeks HP before the next one rolls around! I'm sorry for the loss of your brother. I'm sure that was so hard.

Spring has not quite sprung here. It's trying, but things really haven't bloomed and we are still cool. No snow though, so that's nice!
