Tonight after dinner my friend Ben and I was talking about the situation with my laptop..It has been in for repair many times to HP only to have to send it back in the next couple of days. It has not made me very happy. They seem to keep it forever. Its my only computer so being without it is pretty difficult..
While I was explaining this to my friend, he kindly said for me to use his for as long as I need to. WOW.. Just seconds before I was telling him that I may rent a computer from one of those rental centers while the computer is being repaired.
It shocked me that he offered me his laptop without any hesitation. For a couple of weeks now, I have been searching for ideas and solutions to being without a computer. I bet if I would have asked a lot sooner he would have been just as willing to help me with this situation.
Then once he got home, he sent me a message on Facebook saying thank you for dinner and that he would bring in the computer tomorrow. How kind.. And that got me thinking..
I am a huge believer in thank you notes. It only takes a second to write one up and mail it off. I am not talking about E cards either.. I guess they would be better than nothing but really they don't compare to a hand written thank you note. I have always sent out thank you notes. In fact the last one I sent out was to the handy man who fixed my dryer. Scott also sends out thank you letters from the dealership to customers. It really does show gratitude when you take the time to simply say Thank you.
I don't know what other things I plan on doing for my friend to say thanks beside a note but I will for sure cook something up for him to go along with the card. When anyone does something for you that you are thankful for take the time to pen a note because its the small things that matter. You never know what the impact will be when someone knows that what they did or who they are is appreciated.
