Try the World | Japan Box | August 2015 |

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Hello friends! How's your Tuesday going? I am back sharing a new Try the World Open Box.I have tried a lot of different subscription services and have really narrowed down them to the ones I love. Try the World  is a monthly food service that gives you treats and delicious foods to try from different countries. Scott normally makes these videos with me but this time you guys are stuck with just me! He's been super busy too and I feel like I have a lot of videos waiting on me to get up so I just went ahead and did it. This is the Japan Box...hope you enjoy!

This is such a fun box to get. As I explained in the video, I choose not to open and taste test items on camera because I didn't want to have to use them right away. I am going to host a little brunch for my family making recipes from this box very soon. I will be sure to include it in a What's Cookin' video in the future! :) If you are interested in this box you can sign up right here and you will get $15 off your first box! xx

Try the World Bi Monthly Subscription Box Video | Venice |

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Hello friends! I hope you are having a great evening. We are snowed in like so many others tonight that we are just staying inside and keeping warm. Scott and I thought we would share a new bi monthly subscription box from Try the World. We were super happy to start this subscription service because we love trying new food and the thought of the food and treats coming from different parts of the world was interesting to us. So if you want to check it out with us both, enjoy the video below!

That was such a fun video to make! Scott will be filming these videos with me, every couple of months. I actually have a March boxing coming that we will be sharing too! I think the culture guide book that came with the box packed with information, recipes, movie and music guide from the region the tasty treats come from is a great addition. Plus the information card that explains everything from the box lets you know exactly what you are getting. They also have a online store that sells a bunch of specialty items which makes me happy too!

If you want to try this bi monthly subscription box for $38 per box, click HERE and get $15 off your first box! Be sure to let me know if you have any questions. If by some chance you are just coming by for the first time, I would love it if you subscribed!

In Depth Review of Plated.com + Giveaway!!!! | Video & Corresponding Blog Post |

Thursday, October 16, 2014
Hello friends! I am back today with a very in depth look at plated.com and giveaway. You guys know how much I like trying monthly subscription boxes so when I stumbled upon plated.com I was totally excited to try a couple of their meals. This is more of a weekly type of subscription box or you certainly order it monthly. Its really up to you. Plated.com offers 7 dishes each week that actual chef's desgin. You just log on and pick out what you want and it comes right to your doorstep with 99.9% of the items you will need to make the meals. You might need some olive oil, salt & pepper, and pots but most of the ingredients is sent right to you. So you can see everything in the video and there are even more pictures and the GiVeAwAy form is below!
I was totally happy when my box came in the mail. I was a little nervous that I would not be home when it was dropped off but that didn't matter at all.

They designed their boxes as you saw in the video in a cooler style. Its totally insulted and the food will be fine until you can get home and get it put away. The packaging alone can't be cheap and just goes to show that they really care in their in product and want it to reach us with no issues.

Once I got the box open I saw it had everything included as they said they would. Here's everything included for the Steak au Poivre with a Spinach potato Gratin...with detailed recipe cards that will take you through each step with great pictures and illustrations.

And here is the recipe card and ingredients for the Quinoa Salad with Seared Salmon and Avocado dinner.

I didn't make either of these right away. I waited a few days on purpose to see how the ingredients would hold up. None of us are going to unpack the ingredients are cook them all at once so it was important to test out how well the food lasted. The steak dinner was in the frig for 3 days waiting on me to make it and everything was fresh. I was a little nervous if the potatoes would be enough for my husband and myself. But I followed the recipe all the way and we have more than enough for both of us.

It was super easy to make. This meal took close to 30 minutes to make but it turned out so delicious. We loved the sauce on top of the steak....each bite was full of flavors and we loved it. We didn't have left overs but we did have a wonderful dinner.

A few nights later we went on to make the Quinoa Salad with seared salmon and avocado. I thought this would be a challenge because my husband is not too fond of quinoa. Again.. the ingredients remained fresh the way they packaged them and it was a super fast dinner.  I think I had it done in about 15-20 minutes. ( Of course it took a little longer because I was filming but it was fast. )

The flavors were amazing in this salad. Scott really liked the quinoa too. I was kinda shocked that he ate his entire bowl. The salmon remained fresh until I cooked it. Everything was super easy to make and it was another hit!

Final Thoughts:

I was actually really surprised at the care plated used to ship the food to us, all the way to the recipes on the plates. This is not a sponsored review. I did get the deal where I get the first box free, just pay shipping but plated.com had no idea I would be doing this review. Sometimes there are companies who contact me for reviews but other times I just find something I am interested in, test it out, and do a surprise review and sometimes giveaway. All my reviews are true and honest but the surprise reviews are always the best! I was shocked at how easily the meals were to make. The cards came in handy showing step by step how to make each meal. The food was fresh, recipes inovantive and I loved it. There was no waiting in the long grocery line. Everything I needed, came in the box or I already had. Its not over priced. I went to culinary school at Sullivan College and these kind of recipes would make my instructors very happy. They are new, current, healthy, flavorful meals that most adults are going to like. To be very honest, my 12 old picky son wouldn't really care for the meals but for a family 2 or a family of non picky eaters....this might be a answer for you. You don't have to look at it like an extra bill. If you order a box for yourself, you can simply take out of the grocery budget. I think this perfect for people who are not too sure of themselves in the kitchen and its also perfect for young couples just starting out. I know my sister would love this and I think my oldest daughter would also love this too. So it might also be good to gift out! :) Since I love it so much and found the food that good.... I am sharing it with one of you!

Simply, get entered on the form below. One winner will win 2 meals a total of 4 plates just like what I got to try out for yourself. Now there are some restrictions. Some places way out in Colorado, East Texas and New Mexico they just can't deliver to. It can take up to 3 days in transit and thats not so good for perishables. If you live in one of these areas, you might want to go right here to check out if they deliver to you. Just put in your zipcode and it will let you know. If your selected and they don't deliver, I will have to pick another winner. This is for US Residents only!  This was such a nice way of getting our food without all the shopping with some new interesting recipes that you can continue to make for as long as you like. I was totally impressed and don't know if it will work every week for our family but there are times when I know I will be ordering such as....when we are coming home from vacation and want some food there when we arrive. We can just have it delivered the day we are returning and it will be there waiting on us when we arrive. I also love the exotic meals so I will for sure be watching the website for new fun recipes which might prompt me to place a quick order for busy weeks. I might also be signing up some family for gifts! This is a great Christmas present to give new cook and young family. They offer vegan meals, and so much more that you really should head over to their website to see for yourself. Also if you are single... you would have 2 different servings with each meal taking you through the week on just 2 meals.

The Giveaway is going to last until Wednesday November 5, 2014. I will be announcing the winner on November 6, 2014 on youtube and on THIS BLOG POST! Good luck to everyone!

Rested..

Monday, September 3, 2012
Tumblr_lsrg76ojcx1r330fpo1_500_large

I have slept so much the past 2 days.. its now almost 2am and I am still up. Got to get sleepy soon.. but luckily I can sleep in and dream again tomorrow! Who doesn't love a long weekend!? Husby is going to hopefully sleep in too. I am really happy that we all get to be together for another day. =)  I feel totally relaxed and rested tonight as I lay here in bed.

The house is looking better. I didn't just lay around all day.. I did for a the first few hours I was up but then I got started cleaning up the second floor. Its amazing how many cups and dishes I picked up. Plus there was a ton of trash in Jackson's room and also in the spare room.. my room too. I got all the trash cans emptied and laundry picked up and tossed down the stairs. Forget using a basket.. nope .. my family prefers leaving dirty laundry laying around on the floor and it pisses me off. I have an idea of changing things up .. kinda making a command center upstairs too but included would be a full size trash can and a big laundry basket. The key making it would is making the boys use it. But the upstairs bathrooms are all sparkly and the bedrooms look pretty good too which is a good feeling!

Scott came home exhausted from golf. I thought he was gone an insane amount of time but I guess it just just that he started later than normal. Also it started to rain and they had to wait 15-20 minutes in the club house until it was safe to go back out and play. He said he didn't play that good.. body ached and it had been a while since he golfed.. but he had a good time.

I didn't want to cook but I was in my pjs all day.. I cleaned up but I stayed in my pjs ALL DAY LONG. So it was Jackson's pick that we go to

taco bell.. Let me tell you.. Yesterday he wanted Tacos for lunch. So yep.. we went to Taco Bell. He was eating the taco and I look over at him and he is crying and gagging. I about died.. He was flipping out and I jumped up.. Scott jumped up and helped him. He got choked on a taco shell. So needless to say, I wasn't to thrilled to being doing tacos again..

But this one item is why we went..

The Doritos Taco.. I don't eat tacos often so I can't really give you my opinion but my family LOVES them.

Brittany even called from her dads to tell me how good these are. Jackson and Scott gobble them up.. they are a huge hit around here. Thankfully Jackson didn't choke this time. I watched him eat dinner like a crazy mom just waiting on something to happen. He scared me to death yesterday.. Scott too. He was clearly in despair and couldn't say anything. I am just thankful I looked at him the moment I did.

I need to get back in the kitchen. We have ate fast food the past couple of days. Not healthy.. so tomorrow I am making stuffed pork chops. The meat is organic but not the stuffing. =(  I wish they just just stock he shelf's with all organic healthy options for us all. I am sure I could travel to a Whole foods 45 minutes away to find organic healthy stuffing mix but thats too far from me. Anyway, much better dinner coming tomorrow.

Well, I don't want to sleep in too late tomorrow so I better get to bed!

Be sure to..

xoxo

Review : Jamba All Natural RAZZMATAZZ Smoothie Mix

Monday, August 20, 2012

Hellooooo! Hope your Monday evening is going well!! Around here.. things are quiet and calm. Husby should be home soon and taking the entire day off tomorrow! =)))))

I figured with him being home, I better go on and get this review out because I don't know how much I will be blogging tomorrow.. Hoping to go to that beautiful river that I showed you here!!

Anyway.. tonight I would like to talk to you about..

The Jamba All Natural Smoothie Mix in Razzmatazz $3.29, Ingles.

I am a becoming such a smoothie lover. I use to rarely drink these but the last couple of years has been totally all about

Smoothie Love

Each of these little premade smoothie mixes contain real fruit, non-fat yogurt, and an antioxidant boost with 100% of your Daily Value of Vitamin C. Each serving is fat-free, provides one full serving of fruit, and contains 0mg cholesterol and 120 calories or less when prepared as directed. Each package makes two, eight-ounce servings.. or for me.. 1 large smoothie!

The only thing you need to add to the product to make them is apple juice, which I always have laying around my house.  The packages also each have a $1 coupon off a smoothies at the Jamba retail locations which makes this even sweeter!

As you can see there are frozen Strawberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries along with non fat yogurt pieces..

All you do is add the berries to the blender.. add in 1 cup of apple juice and

you will have one of the most  Amazing smoothies ever!

This one is a bit thinner than a lot of smoothies but it is seriously one of my favorites!

I think its great to serve up with a

breakfast or just as in the picture above.. breakfast for dinner and we also

403937_428287693890813_121900698_n_large

packed them up to go Sunday when we went to the Charlotte Discovery Place so we could have something yummy and filling on the way!

You can find these in the freezer section of your local grocery store.. and I recommend trying them out! There are 3 or 4 different kinds including the Wild Strawberry and Mang -a - go -go.. and all these would be great if you used orange juice instead of apple.. Just play around with the different flavors.

I have done lots of other smoothie posts.. To find them just type in smoothie at the search button at the top and it will bring them all up!

This is a great way to start any day or end any night!

Totally delicious!

Have you tried any of the frozen smoothie kits from Jamba? I would love to hear what your favorite is! Leave a comment below!
