Wednesday Hodgepodge

Happy Wednesday Friends! Time for another Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce from over at From This Side of the Pond . Things have been pretty hard for me the last few days but I am going to do my best to not be a " Debbie Downer " ... instead I am just trying to get my head, my soul, my life, my blog in a happier place! Hope you enjoy.

1. What's something people might ask you for help with?

Wow.. well, that would have to be cooking. I went to Culinary School in my early 20's. Since, I have received a lot of cooking/baking questions! I also get asked a lot about how to help family/friends with their blogs!

2. What's something you might ask people for help with?

Well, I ask the kids all the time to help with small things. Most of the time they do it...but I really try to not ask that many people for help. I have probably asked my mom to help me physically, mentally, and financially for years. She has always been there for me when I needed her. Scott's sister has helped us many times too when we needed help with the animals or a listening ear.

3. Did your family take summer vacations when you were a child?  If so, where did you go?  If you're a parent, did/do you plan summer vacations for your own family?  Did/do they resemble those you took as a child?

I went a ton of places when I was young. I would visit my mom often in Florida being I lived with my grandparents. I would also take a ton of vacations all over with my grandparents. We camped a lot. You know, I never understood what camping really was until I was in my 20's. I mean we were camping in Air Streams with chandeliers in the damn thing.

But I still made some great memories camping. All the vacations we took were great...some of the best memories I have.

4. Pool-lake-ocean...which one is most appealing to you on a hot summer day?

I like the lake the best. Don't ask me why... but I I like it better than a pool or ocean. But I really love all 3!

5. Have you ever justified using the expression 'you gotta be cruel to be kind'? Was it really necessary or were you rationalizing?

No I have never heard that expression, let alone used it. But I don't feel you have to be cruel to be nice. I am very outspoken and I think sometimes people see that as cruel but I think the nicest thing you can do for any person is to tell them the truth. At this point, I don't really sugar coat anything for anyone.

6. The Journal of Psychology recently mentioned the results of a survey identifying the ten most hated foods as-liver, lima beans, mayonnaise, mushrooms, eggs, okra, beets, brussel sprouts, tuna, and gelatin. Of those foods, how many do you actually hate?  Any you'd add to the list?

Well I don't get liver, lima beans, mushrooms, okra, or caned tuna. I like fresh tuna but I can't eat that can stuff. I also don't like olives!

7. What's your favorite book or movie set in a beach or lake town?

I went blank with this one but what did keep coming back to..

I thought this was such a sweet movie and I loved it.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Last week was not so easy for our family. I couldn't believe how fast the downward spin was happening. But a week later, things are slowly getting better. I have been running around here like a CIA Agent...checking this and checking that.. ( post coming up soon ) but its getting better. Time does help everything. Raising kids is truly the hardest job on the earth. This has been hands down my worst summer in 10+ years. HORRIBLE. I am looking forward to a new renewed season of cool days, pumpkin picking, school supplies :), homework, cozy nights in.

Happy Wednesday.

  2. It is a great movie, and that saying cruel to be kind has many connotations ,,, specialy if you have kids,,,it's ok to say no, enought, not happening...they see it as cruel, but it's being kind, your protecting them as well as your own self preservation ......take care!
