Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

Happy Wednesday Friends! I hope you are having a great day! Time for another Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce From this side of the Pond! Hope you enjoy!

1.  Chinese New Year will be celebrated on February 10th, and 2013 is the year of the snake. When did you last see a snake?  Are you okay around snakes or do they give you the shivers?

Well actually the last time I saw a snake was in December when I went to the pet shop looking for another fish for Jackson's tank. But for actually seeing one in the yard or something I think its been about 3 years. Husby found a green snake out in the yard and called us all outside to see it! I don't really like snakes. They are fine as long as they are out doors minding their own business. It would be a different story if one was in the house!

2. The color red in Chinese culture usually means good luck.  Do you believe in luck?

No I really don't believe in luck. I do believe that luck is preparation meeting opportunity. I also believe that it doesn't hurt to believe in luck though. My grandmother always told me :

{ Try to avoid black cats crossing in front of you} ... yea.. I avoided that for years by owning a black cat. I figure it can't apply to me if there is a black cat walking around me all the time!

{Never put your shoes on the table}.. otherwise you will have bad luck. Hummmmm.. thats nasty anyway.. who does that?

{Never open an umbrella in the house}....otherwise you will have bad luck. Yea.. don't really do that much either!

{If you spill the salt, you better toss some over your shoulder for luck}... oddly enough I do this every time!

{Never break a mirror.. or you'll get 7 years of bad luck!} ....This one kinda scares me and if I break a mirror I am always scared!

3. sledding-ice skating-building a snowman...if given a choice, which activity would you choose?  Which of the three have you done most recently?

None of them.. I choose none because they all involve cold weather! I think the last time I played in snow, I built a snowman with the kids. I don't really care for winter activities. Instead, I stay in by the fireplace!

4.  Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited as saying, "The years teach much which the days never knew."  Where have you seen this quote played out in your own life?

OMG.. My entire life is that example. I am almost 37 now..I feel stronger and more confident than ever.. and I didn't feel like the days taught me much at all. It was the fast passing years that crept up on me.. that has taught me more. I am able to really look back year by year at this point and see the lessons that I learned and also the lessons that I still have to figure out.  I am a little nervous about coming up on my older years when I have more of my life behind me than in front of me.. but with the love and support of my family and kids.. I am sure that those years will be filled with just as much love and happiness. My goal is to make as many good memories in the days and years so when its time to go.. I will have a entire soul filled up with more good memories than bad to take with me on the other side.

5. When was the last time you ate a cupcake?

Just a few days ago actually!

Sundae cupcakes!

6. What's something you can't say no to?

Its more like someone.

my kittys.. They get everything they want...with no questions!

7. Are you a doodler?

Yes.. very much so!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Sleep fixes all. It really does. I did fall back asleep today and woke up feeling so much better! I am hoping that as evening sets upon us.. I get a lot done and then I look forward to husby getting home. Good tv tonight! =)

  1. That cupcake looks super delicious!

My hubs was out of town last night so I stayed up way too late. He's home tonite so I'm sure I'll fall asleep on the couch at a ridiculously early hour.
