Love Song for Bobby Long Movie Poster

This is not a new movie.. sorry but not all movie reviews around here are on just new releases.. I saw this pop up on Starz On Demand and decided to watch it. I had never heard of it, let alone watched it.

This movie is not that easy to break down but here it goes..

This is about a old washed up Louisiana Professor - Bobby Long  - ( John Travolta )  who lives in a old New Orleans house with a old student of his ( Gabriel Macht ) Both are complete drunks..They are trying to finish a book they are writing together.. The house belonged to Travolta's ex girlfriend who just died.. Her teenage daughter ( Scarlett Johansson ) shows up needing a place to stay.. The guys thought that she would throw them out so they made up a lie that the house was left to the 3 of them. She stays and really switches things up uncovering many things about her late mother and herself.

Here's the trailer..

I am giving this movie ..

This movie was so much better than I ever imagine it would be. I think Scarlett Johansson performance was amazing, however

I think its Travolta's performance was the best.. in my opinion maybe one of the best he has ever done. His southern accent was spot on but he was good. Also his side kick..

Gabriel Macht was great in the movie too. I really loved his character too.

I have never been a big fan of New Orleans but I really enjoyed it through this movie.. which is shocking..

Another key element of the movie that I enjoyed was all the litature that Bobby Long Spewed out on a regular basis.. Lots of quotes.. I think both of the drunks were content with drinking, smoking, quoting, and drinking till the end of the time. Then a girl switches it all up and brings out the best of the house and the people living there.

From what I have read this movie has got a ton of mixed reviews.. My review is simple.. its a great movie and John Travolta is amazing. I loved all the characters in this movie.. and while its a bit slower paced.. it didn't disappoint..

Have you seen this? Do you agree with my thoughts on this flim?

Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.. I am betting you will like it too!
