March 23rd!

Hello!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful birthday wishes! Super Super nice of you guys to think of me! I woke up to a inbox full of birthday wishes and a facebook page full of birthday wishes! You guys are awesome!! Many of you guys have asked about what my plans are for today.. Well, husby is at work and today is pretty normal.. any birthday stuff will be going on after he gets home.

I am a very lucky woman to have such a beautiful family and loyal friends. If I had any birthday wish I think it would be that everyone in my life, has great love and happiness.

I will be sure to let you know about what goes on around here tonight and I will be sure to get pictures of my birthday cake.. I have no idea what its going to look like but I bet it taste amazing!

Today is just going to be a normal day around here. Laura and the baby are making their way down here and will be here in the late evening sometime.  I sure worry about her driving that long distance by herself.. but she will be checking in along the way.. I am going to get things ready for them and get a twin bed brought into the house from the garage for the baby. Then I am going to clean up and maybe head out and do a little shopping. Not sure though.. I would really like to stay home today and be LAZY!!

Yesterday when I was pulling in the driveway, I stopped to get the mail and look what I found...

A couple tulips blooming!

They are beautiful. This is our first spring in the house so we don't really know what bulbs were planted; so its fun to see what is popping up. More tulips are slowly coming up around the mail box and around the house. So pretty! I was excited when I saw these flowers from the first time!

I want to take a second to talk about

Its been all over the news that she died from cocaine and heart problems. She had 5 drugs in her system but the Dr. said it was the cocaine that she did right before she died that caused her to have a heart attack causing her to slip under the water. How sad and tragic. I have had my own bouts with substance abuse over the years and I know first hand that its never easy to stop.... but this is normally the end result for many people who are suffering from drug abuse. My heart really does go out to her mother. She issued a statement yesterday saying she had no idea her daughter was using again. Its too late now to help Whitney..but its not too late to help someone you know who is going through it. Drug addicted people do crazy stuff sometimes and its really during this time that they need their family instead of being pushed away. Treatment really does help.. so if you are dealing with a family member who is going through this same kind of thing.. find them some place that they can go and get the help they need. On our local news did a story the other day about what people think of people who end up in jail over drugs. 94% of Cleveland County North Carolina believe that jail is not where these people should be. The survey says they are not in favor of jail time for drug addicts. That this county wants treatment plans instead. I was actually happy to see that. I think our jails are full of people who really would benefit from treatment opposed to jail. I mean maybe jail sobers them up but what tools does it teach to people to not go back to the drugs after release? NONE. So yea.. treatment is key to changing peoples lives. I feel terrible that Whitney couldn't figure out a way to stop before it was too late. I still think that her voice and achievements are much more important than the cause of her death. If anything I hope her death is a lesson to all the families out there trying to help a addicted family member. Rock bottom comes fast sometimes and many people's rock bottoms are the grave. Act now if someone needs help, not later.
