March brings with it a breeze full of freshness and the promise of longer warmer days. With the long hibernation of winter behind us, many of us start reaching for our cleaning and gardening gloves .I am so ready for spring. Here in the Carolina's we are lucky enough to get spring a little sooner than most states. So here are some of our plans for march. We have a lot going on around here and as I sit back and think about it all.. its hard to keep track of!

Making Room We have our kids coming in tomorrow night. They are moving here and the 3 are coming to look for houses and for Jerred, our son in law to start a new job working for Scott selling cars. Laura and the baby will head North until the baby is born then they will fully move here. So we are having to switch up the house a bit. Starting tomorrow, husby and I will be sharing a room and bathroom together agian. The 3 kids ( Laura, Jerred and baby Ashlynn ) will take over Scott's room, then once Laura and the baby leave, our study on the first floor will be transformed to Jerreds room. Its not too fancy but we will make it work.
Getting out the birthday candles. We have a few birthdays this month. Michael has a birthday on the 8th.. and you know we have got to do something for him. Then I will be
which is my birthday and also the birthday of a very good friend.. Ben from Ohio. We got along so good and I think one of the reasons is we were born on the same day, therefore the same sign.. just opposite in sex. Hes a lot of fun! My grandfathers birthday is March 28th... and even though he is not here anymore.. his birthday does not pass without a little remembrance to him.
Spring Cleaning. I am gearing up for a 4 week heavy duty spring cleaning action plan that will banish winter from our home along with all the dust, clutter and mess that has been ignored during the long hibernation. I hope many of you will follow along and scrub, mop, clean, polish and organize this month, and stay tuned for handy printouts, guides and tips for getting your home spring clean this month. I don't normally do print outs but there is one site I love to use to get my house in shape and has some great printouts that I will be sharing with you all.
Enjoying seasonal produce: March is National Nutrition Month, and with all the fabulous seasonal produce arriving at your local market, it would be hard not to enjoy a month of healthy eating. This month there will be tons of fresh - Spring Onion, Endive, Celery, Sweet Potatoes, Turnips, Broccoli, Artichokes, Mushrooms, and Garlic.
Making the most of Blood Oranges. Blood Oranges are seldom seen because they have such a short season, and March is the perfect time to take your pick of the best selection. They are full antioxidant’s, so they are not only good for you, but are also sweet and tangy, making them the perfect substitute for regular OJ in your Brunch Mimosa or breakfast smoothie.
Buying Tulips. The sweetness of tulips reminds me of spring, I cannot get enough of them dotted around the house by open windows.. swaying from the fresh air.
Spring is the peak season for cut tulips. At no other time are they so plentiful, in so many styles and colors, and reasonably- priced. Tulips come in more colors than any other flower (except their flower cousin, the dahlia!).
Seed Starting: March is the month when I start growing seeds indoors for our garden. Generally, the time to start your seeds is about 8 weeks before the last expected spring frost date in your area.
I am running a bit behind with this but will be doing a lot of post and videos of starting our garden indoors. Some things I will buy already started but you save so much money when you grow them from seed instead. So stay tuned for a lot of those post coming up in the very near future.
Packing: Michael will be moving out at the end of March so we will be helping him pack and get moved. He is super excited about moving into his new home. He doesn't have a ton of stuff to move but we will be helping him get all settled in. I will miss him being here. I am so use to him being around that its going to be different not having him here. But we will still see him often and hes our # 1 house sitter!
Shamrock Shakes: Ok.. I know this really isn't a calender thing but this month Mickey D's will be serving up tons of their famous
Shamrock Shakes.. which I love! If you haven't tried one, its a must! I like to have them drizzle a bit of chocolate over the top too!
Anyway, in just a few hours March will be upon us.. Do you have any big plans on your calender for the month of March? I would love to hear from you!
