A Few of my Favorites..

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

As I stated earlier today in my first post of the day that I am wanting to work on getting my favorites up.. Actually this is what I exactly said!

When I'm dead and gone, maybe my great-grand kids will enjoy reading about what I liked back in the day. Always thinking ahead! :) In my mind, my printed out blog books are going to be family treasures in the long run. I mean, don't you think it would be cool to read old journals of your great great great grandma? I sure do! Hopefully, my future family will be as nostalgic as myself. I just want it all documented and a record of my life.. of our lives and " my history " will live on forever through those beautiful children of mine. They are not with me everyday at this point and a journal of their mother might come in handy down the road. So be on the look out for my favorites!

Well look no further for my favorites..

Here they are!

( In no particular order )

I received this CHI flat iron over Christmas from my mom and I must say.. its one of the best flat irons I have ever used. I said... EVER USED..Not because I care.. but this is a really expensive flat iron ( $ 79 to $100 ) and I am telling you price because I think if you use flat irons, you should save up for this one. Its amazing. It makes my hair so straight and shinny. It curls hair too. I have burned myself using this a few times but now I pay much more attention because the heat is crazy hot.. I think it goes up to 425. I loooooooove this!

Ok.. I know what you are thinking.. I love this just for the bottle.. Not true!! I love it for a couple reasons.. First off it was a gift from Scott and that alone makes me love it but the parfum smells really really good. subtle fruity/floral with a definite pick-up of Vanilla base. I love it, it's gorgeous for either a daytime or an evening fragrance, plus it's Eau de Parfum so should last upto 6-8 hours (depending on your skin type). From the website it says that:

The top notes include Peach, Gardenia and Apple which definitely are picked up to begin with, however not in a sickly fruity/sweet way.

The middle notes are Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose and Freesia that warm down to the base notes of Creamy Sandalwood, Vanilla Orchid, and Musk.
Its a great smell.. and now she has come out with another one.. and I think its going to be a must have!

This magic box makes me sooooo happy! It allows me to record two tv shows while watching a 3rd one and it will pause and rewind live tv.. I really do think its magic and couldn't imagine living without it.. This has to be one of husbys favorite things too. We have 3 total.. One in my bedroom, one in his bedroom, and one in the living room. Just so you know if you are new to this blog.. husby has his own room because he snores and hogs the bed! It works out fine though.. we still make plenty of time for snuggling!

This is the Smiths Knife Sharpener and I adore it.. It keeps my knifes sharp and does it without much effort at all. A sharp knife is a must in the kitchen! This even sharpens serrated knifes!

This dual sided grill and griddle is a must for my life. I have 2 of them and I think they are amazing! I use this at least twice a week. I grill steaks, pork chops, ham and I just think its a life saver to have one of these. The other side is flat and I love it for pancakes, bacon, and anything else! Every kitchen should have one of these!

It's no seceret on here that I have an obsession with tea pots. Many are fancy ones that I don't use often but this one is my every day teapot. I love it. I use it all the time and its the perfect size when serving tea to company. And the way the plates store on the inside and the cups attach makes this not only pretty but convenient!

These rain boots are real favorite of mine. I do store umbrellas in them while they are not in use but I use them often to go splash in the puddles with . Anymore when it rains and I am out and about.. I see tons of cute rain boots! These also work great for the snow too!

This is really a favorite area of mine in the house. As you come into our front door you are greeted by a big picture of me and the love of my life, along with some sweet cherubs and a glowy owl to help lead the way if it's dark. I love that every time I use the front door I see my husband.. And when the door is open, you can see this area through the big glass door!

Another favorite part of my house is the frig.. where I keep tons of pictures and this side has tons of pictures of my kiddos. Even though they are not here every day.. I sure see them every day!

Ok.. I know that you guys must think I am crazy but a old fashion chocolate cake is a sure favorite of mine. I am a huge fan of sweets and  a simple delicious chocolate cake is enough to take all my troubles away!

I can't talk about the cake without showing you guys another favorite of mine.. which is the cake and cookie domed platters.

I have

an obsession with hunting these down in tag sales or antique shops and buying them. They are soooo handy to have during the holidays and events. I have 4 and I keep 2 out at all times with yummy snacks that make everyone smile!

These kitty cat creamer and sugar dish are TOP favorites of mine. Husby bought these for me in Gatlinburg Tennessee and I adore them. I don't use them but they are sitting in my kitchen and every time I look at them, they make me smile!

Another thing I love is wooden spoons. I have bunches and bunches of them but the most special ones I have are the ones from both my Grandmother Watteau and my Grandmother Mary.

This one I got from my Grandma Mary about 4 years ago and her mother bought it. So it means the world to me. I know it sounds crazy but if something bad happened to the house like a fire or natural disaster these would be one of the things I would for sure grab up. I want my grand children to use them. My Brittany or Jackson won't get these until they are older and settled down. I would just die if something happened to them.. Wonder how many people have spoons that mean so much them like these do to me.

This handy little black rectangle electronic is my GPS.. aka My Talking Map. Where would we be without these little machines????  I wonder what it will take the place of these in 20 years. This little device and helped me travel all across the country many many times. I got this for Christmas 4 years ago ( I think ) and when my daughter asked me what my favorite gift was that year.. I told her this because now I could get to her on my own. Love.. Love.. Love.. Love.. this... Of course, husby's talking map is built right in his car!

Book wise, these Bobbi Brown Make Up Books were one of the best purchases I ever made. I have always been good with make up but with her help, I really figured things out. These are great for a young person or older person because a lot of the information applies to every age.

So I was hunting through my make up I decided that I would show some of my favorite drug store products vs my higher end products. I might do another post of just my high end stuff but since the majority of my make up is drug store I thought I would concentrate on those..

So here is the list.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Foundation in # 30 - Buff

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara - Loads of Lashes in - Very Black -

Loreal Paris Carbon Black Lineur Intense Liquid Liner

Physicians Formula Healthy Wear Bronzer in Tan

Maybelline Instant Rewind Concealer in # 10 Fair

It was really hard to pick only a few eyeshadows to be my favorites. I have so many but I picked..

Revlon Colorstay in # 06 - The Buff

Revlon Colorstay in #11 Sultry Smoke and

Loreal Hip Duo in # 860 Gilded

I picked these because I could make a ton of looks with just this combination.

Milani Blush in # 201 Luminous

Tarte LipSurgence in Glitzy

Polish wise I really have been loving this Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Polish in

# 370 - Commander in Chic -

I have this picture in my bathroom and its one of my all time favorites. I think its so beautiful that I just could stare at it for hours.

This little device aka my blackberry gives me so much happiness. I am not a iphone kind of girl. I am still all about the blackberry but its almost time for an upgrade to the torch.

I have been loving Adels CD's. I think she sings with so much feeling that just listening to her puts me in a calmer place.

Of course I love my calender and couldn't live without them!

One of my all time favorite movies is Cold Mountain. This is a few years old but it still is a favorite of mine. There are many nights I fall asleep watching this. I think it has one of the most beautiful love scenes in it that I have ever seen. And I would loooove to live on that farm!

And last but not least, I love these new cat books that my mom got me this year. Every night I read something new in them and every little snippet I read makes me smile!

These would be my time capsule items.. well.. not the chocolate cake! =)  However, this blog itself is like a time capsule... and I hope one day the kids are thumbing through my blog books seeing what I liked many many years previous.. Maybe they will show their children. I have always wanted my life documented and now its in a better version than just my handwritten journals..
