Hello friends. I know I am putting up 2 late night posts back to back but its just the way time is working out tonight. With a very heavy heart I wanted to let you guys know that tonight my step brother Shannon passed away. He's the one in the grey shirt in the picture above. Shannon was my step brother and my sisters 1/2 brother. He is just a couple years older than I am so its devastating to our family to have someone taken so soon. This is a heartbreaking story that I have seen way too close before when I lost my own brother when I was 19. Really this is the first death my sister has been around for and its even harder for Shannons parents. I can't imgaine the grief felt by my step dad and his mother.
I would be heading down to Florida for the memorial but I think his mom is taking him back to Ohio with her. Details are still being sorted out. This is one of those times when our family has come together to lift each other up via in person, on the phone, by email,... in every way because that's what family does for each other.
I don't think any of us should focus on his death but instead focus on the life of Shannon. He lived a very full wild life and made every moment count. He will be very very missed.
A prayer for Shannon
God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
We lift Shannons soul up to the white light of the holy spirit where he can forever rest in peace and we pray for the rest of our family who will miss him every day for the rest of their lives.
