Hi everyone, allow me to introduce myself, my name is Sonya and I blog over at a gray rainbow. I would say my blog is an everything blog. Ideas, pictures, pups and my little Ardo is what my blog is all about. Speaking of which (my little guy) I wanted to touch on one subject today...sleep.
I don't think I consider myself a new mom anymore, after two years I have a few tricks up my sleeve. However, one thing people seemed to give me the most advice on when I was a brand new mom was all the sleep I wouldn't be getting. And it's true little babes are on a 24 hour schedule and if you babe was anything like my sweet little Ardo, to say he was high needs is probably an understatement. I didn't have one of those miracle babes that slept from dusk til dawn at 3 weeks. I had a little guy who didn't start sleeping through the night til he was 13 months old. (So mama's of babes who feel me, you are not alone.) I started noticing so many moms and mama blogs would say how much they wanted to sleep in, and how waking up early is still so difficult. Around the time he started sleeping through the night I made a deal with myself. If I was able to get uninterrupted sleep, I would embrace a early morning start. I couldn't possible complain about both. So I started waking up the same time everyday, even on the weekends. 6:45am, and you know what, life started to become easier. I would lay in bed til 7:00 like I do every morning, check my phone, and then get in the shower, just waiting for my little guy to get up. And life became easier. I was no longer trying to get something that wasn't going to happen. And you know what, waking up early has a few perks.
1. getting ready before your little one, lets you have time to get ready, so you walk out of the house looking fresh, and not like you were just run over by a truck.
2. getting to stores as soon as they open helps with more time to shop and if your little one starts acting crazy, there really isn't anyone to disturb.
3. little ones seem to be easier in the morning, almost like their energy level needs a little time to kick in
4. and this one is probably most important, I noticed when I stopped fighting the sleeping monster and got on the wake up early bus, my little guy seemed happier. Sometimes I already had breakfast made or was able to map out our day, and when he is was happier, then for dang sure, I am.
