Amusing August Blog Hop - Week 1 -

I am joining up with Shelby and a few others over at Chasing Birdies for the Amusing August Blog Hop. I am running a couple days late but I will be caught up by the next one rolls out on Tuesday!

Week 1's Question.. 

What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?

I don't know if this is my MOST embarrassing moment of my life but its for sure one that stands out in my head.. So here it is.. 

I took dance since I was about 5 years old.. When I was 10 we participated in one of the local parades. This time there was no twirling or dancing down the city roads.. instead, we were painted up as smurfs and had to sit on this big float while we passed everyone. Well, I love the smurfs.. even now.. but I really hated being painted up as one. Check out the 80's perm too! Thanks grandma.. another totally embarrassing moment. That blue face paint was horrible to wear.. it made my eyes water ( along with many other little girls ) and by time we reached the end of the parade I looked like some crazy little blue person... They also applied black mascara to us.. and it was a disaster! It was cold too and I so humiliated to have to be going up and down the streets painted blue. I think it would have been better to just dress like the smurfs.. not get painted up in that silly blue paint! It was terrible. I wish I had a picture of what we looked like after because it was so bad. The mascara was running down on top of the blue.. the blue was starting to come off.. and all of us were itchy from the face and body paint, that we had all these wild streaks all over our bodies. I don't know what they were thinking putting that crap on us! 

I remember afterwards running in the house, straight to the bathroom to shower and when I saw myself.. I think I was more embarrassed than I was when I was on the float. My brother busted in the bathroom and was pointing and laughing call me the - scary smurf - * I will never forget it! * I was so happy to get in the shower and wash that stuff off! Isn't it funny what parents do to their kids for amusement!?
