BILTMORE..
The largest House in America
The entrance gate
We got our tickets..
As you can see its MY BIRTHDAY!!!
We drove a few miles..
Parked..
Then saw..
this sign..
So down the trail we went..
And ended up right here..On a high wall in front of this magnificent house.
Its so GRAND...I love it!!
So we go up to the..
House and these huge beautiful
were on each side of the door to welcome us!
Now I couldn't get a picture walking in because there were employees everywhere watching people..
But I did start taking pictures..
Sorry about this one being blurry..Tapestry Room..
Lots of beautiful tapestries
Then we get into the library..
which is so beautiful with over 23,000 volume collection of his books.
The ceiling is so beautiful too..
Its called the Chariot of Aurora painted by Italian artist Giovanni Pellegrini.
( Artist my cat is named after! So imagine how much I love the ceiling )
The library is so beautiful..
That chess set and gaming table were once owned by Napoleon Boaparte.
Then we were in the MUSIC room..
Love the piano..
The room is very striking!
So elegant.
Some how we came back out into the middle of the main floor into the winter garden..
It has a glass roof and that sculpture is
Boy Stealing Geese by Karl Bitter placed there just a couple weeks before George Vanderbilt opened the house to his family in 1895..That's how old that is!
Tne to the BILLIARD Room
In here there is dominoes, billiards and many board games..
That Billiard table was made in 1895..
Here is the Banquet Hall. I got better pictures you will see later...
This room has a seven story high ceiling and Flemish tapestries from the 1500s.
This huge room housed all the big dinner party's..
and it even had a Organ Loft which houses a 1916 Skinner Pipe Organ!
Then to the BREAKFAST Room..
Despite the name this was also where lunch was served..

On the way to Mr Vanderbilts bedroom..There is is huge painting of the family.
and information about Mr. Vanderbilit
And here we are in his bedroom!
The bed was small..People were shorter then!
How pretty..
He had the best views from this room.
Then we headed into the OAK sitting room..
This is the room that joined the bedrooms.
This is generally the room they would enjoy breakfast and do all the household planning.
Then into Mrs Vanderbilts bedroom..
Yet another really pretty room..
Very feminine room
that I would love to have!
Then up to the 3rd floor we went..
Looking down..
